Dental Dilemma at Glastonbury strikes a chord in Norfolk

According to Festival Medical Services, festival goers were using the charity’s dentists because they can’t get NHS dental care at home. Nigel says the situation in North Norfolk is worse than ever for people trying to find an NHS dentist: "We need urgent action now for our children. No one in Norfolk is taking NHS dental patients. I'm sure others have experienced a similar issue. The search continues!"

A spokesperson for the British Dental Association, the dentists' professional body, said: "This further illustrates the state of dentistry in 2023 - it’s no wonder people are resorting to getting help wherever they can, if they can no longer find it on the high street"

Steffan Aquarone, who’s standing to become the next MP for North Norfolk, puts the blame firmly at the door of the Government:

"Lack of funding for the NHS, the dire way that NHS England contracts dentists, and the loss of many dentists from the UK post Brexit because the UK government refused to recognise their qualifications, are causing this gap in dental services, and it’s a gap that urgently needs filling!”

“The Liberal Democrats are committed to reform to ensure local NHS dental services are available to meet the needs of local people."

Meanwhile, Nigel Ward is waiting, and desperately hoping his little girls don't get toothache.
